 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. ABIA GOV. OTTI VOWS NOT TO NEGOTIATE WITH CRIMINAL POLITICIANS. (PHOTO).

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has taken a firm stance against negotiating with individuals he describes as "criminals" who have destroyed the state in the past. Otti made this declaration during two separate church services at The Master's Vessel Church and Power World Ministry Int'l in Umuahia on Sunday.


According to Otti, these individuals are now resorting to blackmail and spreading falsehoods against his administration after their attempts to negotiate and secure inclusion in governance failed. Otti emphasized that his administration will not engage with these individuals, stating, "We are not doing anything wrong. Ours is a government that has integrity; we will never negotiate with criminals".¹


Otti's administration is focused on restoring the culture of hard work and contentment among the people of Abia. To achieve this, they are creating an enabling environment that allows citizens to pursue decent livelihoods and take pride in their work and businesses.


One notable initiative is the declaration of free and compulsory education at the basic and secondary school levels. This has led to a massive enrollment of pupils and students in public schools, resulting in significant pressure on the state's educational facilities.
