 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. ABIA STATE VOWS TO DISCIPLINE DOCTORS SENDING PATIENTS TO PRIVATE CLINICS. (PHOTO)

The Abia State Government has issued a stern warning to optometrists working in state-owned medical institutions, prohibiting them from diverting patients to their private clinics. This directive was given by Dr. Betty Emeka-Obasi, Administrator of the Abia State Eye Health Management Bureau, during the maiden meeting of optometrists in the state's civil service.


Dr. Emeka-Obasi emphasized that any optometrist found guilty of patient diversion will face strict sanctions. She highlighted that the Abia State Eye Health Management Bureau was established by Governor Alex Otti's administration to provide affordable, standardized, and accessible eye-care services to all citizens.


The Administrator also urged optometrists and other medical personnel to demonstrate commitment and professionalism by reporting to work daily and avoiding absenteeism. She reminded them that the Bureau was established by an Executive Order on July 15, 2024, to focus on the eye care sector.


Mrs. Okoroafor Ngozi Uche, Director of Administration at the Abia State Ministry of Health, echoed Dr. Emeka-Obasi's sentiments, calling for punctuality and adherence to work ethics. She expressed disappointment over reports of absenteeism and early departures among some medical personnel.


In response, Dr. Emmanuel Nwaji, an optometrist, appreciated the Administrator for organizing the meeting and assured her that they would uphold civil service rules and diligently carry out their duties to improve eye-care services in the state.
