The team Led by the Anambra State Physical Planning Board enforcement team noted  that the exercise aimed to recover government land that had been encroached upon.

According to Mr. Kenechukwu Mbanefo, a representative of the Anambra State Physical Planning Board at Ekwusigo Local Government Planning Authority, some individuals had parcelled out and sold the land without government approval to innocent buyers who had erected perimeter fences, despite receiving stop-work notices.
