 President Trump awarded inaugural FIFA Peace Prize at World Cup draw in Washington  Gianni Infantino, the FIFA President presented the honour onstage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, saying Trump had been selected “in recognition of his exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world”. “This is your prize, this is your peace prize,” Infantino said, after Trump took the stage to accept the trophy, a medal and certificate. “There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.”   FIFA says the prize is for “individuals who help unite people in peace through unwavering commitment and special actions”.  Accepting the award, Trump called it “one of the great honours of my life”, before claiming to have “saved millions and millions of lives – the Congo is an example, over 10 million people killed and it was heading for another 10 million very quickly.  Fire Explosion at Cawthorne Channel Leaves Many Feared Dead, Crew Members Missing


A massive fire outbreak at the Cawthorne Channel facility in Bonny, Rivers State, has caused panic, with fears of multiple casualties and a major oil spill into surrounding waters.


Search operations are ongoing for missing crew members, while the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) faces calls for compensation and environmental remediation.


Community leader Daniel Pollyn confirmed that the fire, which erupted on February 19, 2025, engulfed two flow stations near Degema LGA. While no local residents were affected, he blamed NNPCL’s negligence for the disaster and demanded an investigation, clean-up, and compensation.


The Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC-Nigeria) reported that crude oil had spilled into Bonny waterways, calling on the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) to assess the damage and hold those responsible accountable.


As of 24 hours after the incident, NNPCL has not released an official statement, fueling public frustration over its response to the crisis.
