Lagos police launch investigation as jeweller  accuses its officers of harassment The Lagos State Police Command said it has commenced an investigation into a viral video of a jeweller accusing some policemen in the Festac area of the state of harassing him.  The command disclosed this in an X post on Saturday. The video, which circulated on X on Saturday morning, shows the businessman engaged in a struggle with some policemen. Later in the video, the businessman could be seen with a bloody face after allegedly sustaining a cut beside his right eye during the struggle with the police officers,  The jeweller later explained that the policemen from the Festac Division had stopped him for a routine search. ICJ ALLOWS AU TO PARTICIPATE IN GENOCIDE CASE AGAINST ISRAEL. (PHOTO).

 ICJ allows AU to participate in genocide case against Israel


The International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Thursday granted the African Union permission to participate in a case on Israel's obligations regarding UN activities in occupied Palestinian territories, Anadolu Agency reported.


"The International Court of Justice has authorised the African Union, at its request, to participate in the advisory proceedings on the Obligations of Israel in relation to the presence and activities of the United Nations, other international organisations, and third states in and in relation to the occupied Palestinian territory," a statement from the ICJ read.


The African Union is likely to be able to provide information on the question put to the court's general assembly, it said.


Therefore, the union will present a written statement on that question by February 28, 2025, according to the statement.
