 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. IGP DECORATES 3 NEWLY PROMOTED ASSISTANT INSPECTORS-GENERAL OF POLICE, 16 COMMISSIONERS OF POLICE.


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, today, Thursday 20th February 2025, at the Goodluck Jonathan International Peacekeeping Centre, Force Headquarters, Abuja, decorated nineteen (19) Senior Police Officers with their new ranks amidst cheers from families, friends, and well-wishers.


The decoration ceremony saw the elevation of three (3) Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police. The newly decorated AIGs include AIG Garba Ahmed, AIG Nemi Edwin Osigoboka Iwo, and AIG Salman Garba Dogo.


In addition, sixteen (16) Deputy Commissioners of Police were promoted to the substantive rank of Commissioners of Police. The decorated CPs include CP Cyriacus Enechukwu, CP Gombit Bangs, CP Rosemary Akpan, CP Ayodele Adeyemi, among others. The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including Prince Ma Sani-Omolori; Former Clerk to the National Assembly (The Ciroma of Ebira Land), Mr. Nebeolisa Anako; Former Permanent Secretary of the Police Service Commission, DIG Valentine Ntomchukwu(rtd.), as well as members of the Force Management Team, serving and retired Senior Police Officers, and families of the promotees.


The Inspector-General of Police applauded the newly promoted officers and charged them to diligently discharge the responsibilities of their new ranks. He urged them to leverage their extensive knowledge of policing in safeguarding the country, in strict adherence to the Rule of Law, as the Nigeria Police Force continues to emplace strategies toward a more secure nation and national development.
