The Kano State Government has announced plans to sponsor 1,002 additional students for overseas studies, following the successful sponsorship of 1,001 students last year. Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo made the announcement during a visit by the European Union Delegation ahead of the 2025 Study in Europe Fair in Kano.
Gwarzo emphasized the government’s commitment to education, highlighting its largest budget allocation in Nigeria for 2024 and 2025 and a declared state of emergency in the sector to improve learning opportunities.
The EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Gautier Mignot, reaffirmed the EU’s support and noted that the Study in Europe Fair will connect Nigerian students with European universities, fostering academic partnerships and student exchanges. The event, featuring 20 European university representatives, aims to strengthen educational collaboration between Kano and Europe.
