 Unknown individuals looted palliatives at our Owerri rally – City Boy Movement An empowerment programme organised by the City Boy Movement, a support group for President Bola Tinubu, descended into disorder on Saturday when a large crowd surged forward and looted items intended for distribution to beneficiaries across Nigeria's South-East region. The event, held at Heroes Square in Owerri, marked the official launch of the Renewed Hope National Tour and the City Boy Movement South-East Youth Tour and Empowerment Programme on March 14, 2026. It aimed to provide support to young people, market traders, and vulnerable individuals from Abia, Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi, and Enugu states.  Nine die as driver rams into truck on Lagos – Ibadan expressway 


Early morning auto crash on Monday has left nine people dead and three others with varying degrees of injuries on Lagos – Ibadan expressway.

The accident, which occurred around 5.30am at Ayetoro corridor of the expressway, involved a 13 people comprising 10 male and 03 female adults respectively.

Chief Route Commander and public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun State sector Command, Florence Okpe, who confirmed this on behalf of the sector Commander, Fasakin  Akinwumi, said 09 was recorded killed ( 06 males and 03 females) while three were injured.

Okpe gave the data of the vehicles involved as Toyota Hiace bus marked  UYY165ZY and a truck with registration number DKA244 XC.

She attributed the cause to fatigue and loss of control on the part of the driver, leading into crashing in the truck that was parked by the roadside of the expressway.

“The suspected causes of the fatal crash were excessive speed and fatigue which led to loss of control and the driver rammed into a station truck. 

“The injured victims were taken to Famobis Hospital mowe while the deceased were deposited at Idera morgue Sagamu.

“The Sector Commander Corps Commander Fasakin  Akinwumi  is  pained over the recklessness of some drivers  for not observing the stipulated speed limit and refusal to obey the 15 minutes rest after 4 hrs journey.

“He sympathises with the family of the crash victims and enjoined them to contact Mowe unit Command for more information about the crash,” she stated.
