 IGP DISU PAYS OPERATIONAL VISIT TO  AKWA IBOM, PRESIDES OVER PASSING-OUT CEREMONY OF 1,068 RETRAINED CONSTABLES The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, 30th April 2026, undertook an official visit to Akwa Ibom State, where he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, ahead of the passing-out ceremony of retrained Police Constables in Uyo.  Notorious Bandit Kingpin Released from Niger Republic Prison, Returns to Nigeria


A notorious bandit leader, Kachallah Bammi Yarma, who was jailed in Niger Republic in 2015, has been released after completing his sentence and has returned to Katsina State, Nigeria.


Counterterrorism expert Zagazola Makama revealed this in a post on X, describing Bammi Yarma as one of the deadliest bandits in the region. He was captured in 2015 while smuggling arms on camels in Danmusa, Katsina State, leading to the seizure of 1,000 livestock and the disruption of a key bandit supply chain.


Intelligence reports indicate that top bandit leaders have been welcoming him back with firearms gifts, sparking concerns of an escalation in violent attacks across Katsina, Zamfara, and Sokoto states.
