 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean.  Police arrest 23-year-old for attempting to use nephew for ritual


The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man, Solomon Fabiyi, for attempting to use his seven-year-old nephew, Jomiloju, for a money ritual.


According to the state police spokesperson, SP Sunday Abutu, Fabiyi who resides with his parents and the victim in Ado-Ekiti, was arrested on Friday before he could carry out the ritual.


Abutu in a message to our correspondent on Tuesday confirmed that Fabiyi confessed to the crime and was subsequently arraigned.


He wrote, “He was arrested by our operatives on Friday, 14th February 2025 at about 19:00hrs through a tip-off while he was on the verge of using nephew for money ritual.


“The suspect, his parents and the victim all reside together around Goshen Avenue, Adebayo Area, Ado-Ekiti.


“He confessed to the commission of the crime and has been arraigned.”


In a viral video on social media, the suspect explained that he had been directed by a local herbalist to find someone to use for the ritual.


The herbalist reportedly assured him that the person chosen for the ritual would not die, but would live with an ailment.


The herbalist, however, was said to have alerted the police when Fabiyi brought the child to be used for the ritual.
