 IGP DISU PAYS OPERATIONAL VISIT TO  AKWA IBOM, PRESIDES OVER PASSING-OUT CEREMONY OF 1,068 RETRAINED CONSTABLES The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, 30th April 2026, undertook an official visit to Akwa Ibom State, where he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, ahead of the passing-out ceremony of retrained Police Constables in Uyo.  Giyani Man Released on Bail After Brutal Zebra Killing; Second Suspect Still at Large


A man accused of hacking a zebra to death in Giyani has been released on R1,000 bail following his first court appearance.


The shocking incident, captured on video, shows two individuals using an axe to repeatedly strike the helpless animal’s head while it was trapped in a wire fence. The footage has sparked outrage among animal rights organizations and the public.


The National Council of SPCAs (NSPCA) is actively pursuing the arrest of a second suspect, who is believed to be residing in another province. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to bring all those responsible to justice.
