 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali.  War: Russia launches 267 drones into Ukraine


No fewer than 267 drones were launched into Ukraine on Saturday night by Russia, the Ukrainian Air Force confirmed on Sunday.

The incident occurred amid preparations by both nations to mark three years since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion of its western neighbor.

According to ABC News, the 267 drone attacks were the largest of such bombardments, breaking the previous record of 193 drones set in a December attack.

The Ukrainian Air Force said in a statement on its Telegram channel that it shot down 138 Shahed attack drones, while 119 others were lost in flight.

The Odesa military administration also reported that at least three people were injured by a drone strike.

Emergency services said that one person was also injured in Zaporizhzhia.
