 Recording Academy adds five new Grammy categories, updates rules for 2026 awards NEW YORK - The Recording Academy is introducing five new categories and making several rule changes for the 2026 Grammy Awards in an effort to reflect the evolving global music landscape. Among the new additions is a best Asian pop music performance category, which will honor performances across genres such as K-pop, J-pop, C-pop and other Asian pop styles, with the award going to performers. A new best traditional pop vocal performance category will recognize artists whose work does not fit within modern pop styles. A best Latin song category will spotlight songwriters for Spanish-language Latin recordings. Changes are also coming to existing categories in R&B and folk music. AKWA IBOM POLICE ARREST MAN FOR ALLEGED MURDER OF WIFE. (PHOTOS).


 

A 42-year-old man, Victor Okoh, has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for the alleged gruesome murder of his 38-year-old wife, Victoria Okoh, at their residence in Oron Local Government Area.


According to DSP Timfon John, the command's Public Relations Officer, the arrest was made following a distress call from concerned residents of the area. The police operatives stormed the building at about 5 am and arrested the suspect, who was hiding under the ceiling to evade arrest.


Preliminary investigations revealed that Victor Okoh allegedly attacked his wife with a machete over accusations of infidelity. The police recovered the machete used in the crime and deposited the corpse at the General Hospital Morgue for an autopsy.


The Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, condemned the act and assured the public that justice will take its full course. He emphasized the command's commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and warned against all forms of domestic violence, urging residents to seek lawful means of resolving disputes.


The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
