 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. Dolly Parton’s husband is dead


Carl Dean, the husband of Dolly Parton, has died Monday, aged 82.

The couple were married for almost 60 years, but the country music superstar kept out of the spotlight.

“Carl and I spent many wonderful years together.

“Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years,” Parton wrote in a post on X.

Dolly met Dean in 1964 outside the Wishy Washy Laundromat in Nashville, Tennessee. At the time, she was 18 and he was 21.

“I was surprised and delighted that while he talked to me, he looked at my face (a rare thing for me),” she said.

“He seemed to be genuinely interested in finding out who I was and what I was about,” she added.

They married two years later in May 1966 in a simple ceremony attended only by Parton’s mother, the preacher and his wife.
