 Unknown individuals looted palliatives at our Owerri rally – City Boy Movement An empowerment programme organised by the City Boy Movement, a support group for President Bola Tinubu, descended into disorder on Saturday when a large crowd surged forward and looted items intended for distribution to beneficiaries across Nigeria's South-East region. The event, held at Heroes Square in Owerri, marked the official launch of the Renewed Hope National Tour and the City Boy Movement South-East Youth Tour and Empowerment Programme on March 14, 2026. It aimed to provide support to young people, market traders, and vulnerable individuals from Abia, Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi, and Enugu states.  Edo Mayhem: Police Confirm 7 Deaths, Arrest of 14 Suspects


A tragic incident occurred in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, resulting in the deaths of seven people suspected to be kidnappers. According to Moses Yamu, spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, 14 suspects have been arrested in connection with the killings.


The incident unfolded on March 27, 2025, when a truck conveying 25 travelers from Port Harcourt was accosted by vigilante group members at Uromi. Some of the travelers were found with locally made dane guns and were arrested. However, the situation escalated, and 16 of the occupants were attacked and lynched by the vigilantes and passersby.


Police operatives swiftly intervened, rescuing 10 of the travelers, two of whom sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment. The police have condemned the killings and urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with the investigation.


In response to the incident, a unit of Police Mobile Force personnel has been deployed to the area to maintain law and order. The Commissioner of Police, Betty Enekpen Isokpan, has cautioned against reprisal attacks or unlawful gatherings that may exacerbate tensions.


The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in the state due to the rising insecurity.
