 Anambra to go after houses without proper drainage in order to combat Erosion  Worried by the rising menace of gully erosion, the Anambra State Government has threatened to enforce regulations requiring residents to provide proper drainage for storm water from their homes. The State Executive Council (ANSEC), which announced the proposed enforcement, lamented that erosion remains an existential challenge in Anambra, blaming the situation on careless actions by some communities and lapses by regulatory bodies in enforcing environmental laws. Briefing journalists after the weekly executive council meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, said it had been observed that some residents channel storm water from their homes directly onto roads, where it accumulates and worsens the erosion crisis across the state. “ANSEC has resolved to step up enforcement to compel residents to properly channel and manage storm water from their houses. Ex Abacha aide, Hamza Al-Mustapha officially defects to SDP


Major Dr. Hamza Al-Mustapha has officially joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP), marking a new phase in his political journey aimed at national development.


Accompanied by his team, Al-Mustapha arrived at the SDP headquarters in Abuja, where he was warmly received by party leaders and supporters.


He said his move to the party signals his commitment to leadership based on justice, security, and progress.


His defection comes days after former Kaduna governor, Nasir El-Rufa’i moved to the SDP.


El-Rufa’i has said that they would move against the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration during the 2027 polls.


Hamza Al-Mustapha was the Chief Security Officer to former military ruler General Sani Abacha during his administration from 1993 to 1998.


He was known as one of Abacha’s closest associates during the military regime.
