 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8.  LATE CHIEF MAGISTRATE OGUNKANMI: LAGOS JUDICIARY HOLDS VALEDICTORY COURT SESSION 


The Lagos State Judiciary recently held a solemn valedictory court session in honour of late Chief Magistrate Eniola Olusanmi Ogunkanmi at the Ikeja High Court.

The session, presided over by the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Honourable Justice Kazeem Alogba, was attended by members of the judiciary, legal professionals, family, and well-wishers



Justice Alogba described Magistrate Ogunkanmi as a courageous and principled judicial officer who made a lasting impact on the Lagos State Judiciary. He commended his integrity, diligence, and commitment to justice throughout his career.



Born on December 19, 1966, in Lagos, Nigeria, Magistrate Ogunkanmi pursued a distinguished legal career, obtaining his LL.B from the Lagos State University in 1990 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1991. He served at Lambo & Lambo and Mark & Company before he was appointed a Magistrate Grade II in 2001. Rising through the ranks, he became Chief Magistrate (Administration) and Head of the Department, Litigation of the Lagos State Judiciary (Ikeja), in September 2024.


Mr. Lawal Pedro (SAN), the Attorney-General & Commissioner for Justice, who was represented by Olamide Ibrahim, commended Ogunkanmi's principled stance and significant impact on the judiciary, describing him as one who excel both in the secular and spiritual realm.



Throughout his career, Magistrate Ogunkanmi was known for his fairness, legal expertise, and commitment to upholding the rule of law.
