OKONKWO THROWS WEIGHT BEHIND FRESH CANDIDATE FOR 2027 PRESIDENCY. (PHOTO).

Kenneth Okonkwo, a former spokesman for the Labour Party's presidential campaign, has declared his support for a fresh candidate from either the southern or northern region of Nigeria in the 2027 presidential election. However, his backing comes with a condition: the candidate must agree to serve only one four-year term.

Okonkwo's decision is driven by his commitment to equity and fairness, which he believes is essential for maintaining the delicate balance of power between the northern and southern regions of Nigeria. He emphasized that his support for a fresh candidate is not limited to any particular region, but rather to anyone who is willing to serve the country selflessly and uphold the principles of justice and fairness.

The former Labour Party spokesman also stressed the need for a coalition to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next election. He described the APC government as incompetent and urged the opposition to put aside their differences and present a united front against the incumbent administration.

Okonkwo acknowledged that the 2027 presidential election would be a complex and challenging contest, given the existing power dynamics and the unwritten rule of rotational presidency. However, he expressed optimism that a free and fair primary election, where every qualified candidate can participate, would help to identify the best person for the job.
