 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. THE RSHA HAS INITIATED IMPEACHMENT PROCEEDINGS AGAINST GOV. FUBARA AND HIS DEPUTY, CITING MULTIPLE ALLEGATIONS OF MISCONDUCT. (PHOTOS).


 The Rivers State House of Assembly has initiated impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, citing multiple allegations of misconduct.


Key accusations against Governor Fubara include:


-Budget Violations – Failure to present the 2024 Appropriation Bill and unauthorized withdrawals from the state’s Consolidated Revenue Fund.

-Court Order Disobedience – Ignoring judicial rulings regarding budget approvals and government expenditures.

-Legislative Interference – Hindering the operations of the House of Assembly and supervising the demolition of the Assembly complex despite court injunctions.

-Unlawful Appointments – Appointing government officials without proper screening and confirmation by the Assembly.

-Financial Mismanagement – Withholding funds meant for the Assembly and its members, including salaries.


The Supreme Court has previously condemned Fubara’s actions, stating that political disagreements do not justify attacks on the rule of law. The impeachment process is ongoing.
