 M23 says hundreds of Burundi soldiers captured in latest Congo offensive The Rwanda-backed M23 group has captured hundreds of Burundian soldiers during its latest offensive in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a rebel official said, as clashes continued despite a warning from the Trump administration. Last week M23 entered the strategic town of Uvira near the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Rwanda's actions in eastern Congo violated the Washington Accords and vowed to "take action to ensure promises made to the President are kept".  TROOPS OF 3 DIVISION/OPERATION SAFE HAVEN ARREST NOTORIOUS CRIMINAL RECOVER ARMS AMMUNITION AND RUSTLED CATTLE IN MANGU LGA OF PLATEAU STATE


The troops of 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN on Operation LAFIYAN JAMA'A in Mangu LGA of Plateau State on 23 March 2025 at about 4:50pm responded to information about criminal activities around Youth Centre at Sabon Layi Axis in Mangu LGA of Plateau State. During the operation, troops made contact with a cattle rustling syndicate who had rustled 30 cows. Troops exchanged fire and overwhelmed the criminals forcing them to free. Troops exploited the general area and arrested one Nashak Wilson aged 29 years from Jwakkom Village in Mangu LGA of Plateau State armed with one AK-47 rifle loaded with 2 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special). Further exploitation led to the recovery of 30 cows rustled by the criminal syndicate.  


The recovered cows have been handed over to the owner, Alhaji Yakuba Musa from Kwahas Village in Mangu LGA of Plateau State. Meanwhile, the arrested suspect and recovered arms and ammunition are in custody for further action. Troops are on the trail of the fleeing criminals.
