 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. UNIPORT Promotes 46 Senior Lecturers to Professor and Associate Professor Ranks


The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has promoted 30 senior lecturers to the rank of professor and 16 others to associate professor.


Vice Chancellor Prof. Owunari Georgewill announced the promotions in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the academics underwent a rigorous assessment process. The promotions were approved during the university’s 187th Governing Council meeting, chaired by Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Sen. Mao Ohuabunwa.


A breakdown of the promotions shows that the Faculty of Science has seven new professors, followed by the Faculties of Social Sciences and Management Sciences with five each. The College of Health Sciences also had five, while the Faculties of Humanities, Engineering, and Pharmaceuticals had four, three, and one, respectively.


Among the 16 newly promoted associate professors, the Faculty of Engineering produced four, the Faculty of Science three, and the Faculties of Education and Humanities two each. Other faculties, including Agriculture, Social Sciences, Management Sciences, the College of Health Sciences, and the School of Science Laboratory Technology, each had one.
