 Two US troops missing during African Lion exercise in Morocco, AFRICOM says Two US service members participating in a joint exercise African Lion 2026 were reported missing near the Cap Draa Training Area, near the city of Tan Tan in Morocco on Saturday, the US Africa Command (AFRICOM) said on Sunday. The US, Moroccan and other partner forces have launched coordinated search and rescue operations, including ground, air, and maritime assets, AFRICOM said, Reuters reported. The incident remains under investigation and the search is ongoing, the statement added. African Lion is US Africa Command's largest annual joint exercise, aimed at improving interoperability among US forces, NATO Allies, and African partner nations.

The Commissioner of Police *CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc MNIPS PhD*, acknowledging the grief of the family of the late three children found in a fridge at Nnewi has granted the request of the bereaved family to bury their children. He assured the family of swift Police action when necessary, pending the outcome of the medical findings to complete the ongoing investigation. 


The CP further stated that the Command is working diligently to unravel the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident.


Given the above the Command wishes to state that the details of the investigation are still incomplete and urged *Ndi Anambra* and all concerned to be patient and seeks continuous cooperation from the Community/Area to provide justice for the victims and their families.
