 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. A 16-YEAR-OLD THAT HAS BEEN FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE EVER SINCE MARCH 1ST WHEN SHE WAS STRUCK BY A VEHICLE WHILE SHE WAS RIDING HER BIKE TO WORK, IS SHOWING SIGNS OF IMPROVEMENT. THE FAMILY IS OVERJOYED!!! IT TRULY IS A MIRACLE STORY. (PHOTO).

 Vincennes, Indiana- A 16-year-old that has been fighting for her life ever since March 1st when she was struck by a vehicle while she was riding her bike to work, is showing signs of improvement. The family is overjoyed!!! It truly is a miracle story. 


I'd like to introduce you to a wonderful teenage girl named Kaitlyn Curry. Kaitlyn is a Lincoln High School student with a perfect GPA. That's right, a 4.0. Not only is this special girl a perfect student, and in the high honor society, she's a hard-working young lady. Kaitlyn was employed at Wendy's while maintaining excellent grades at school. On Saturday, March 1st, Kaitlyn was riding her bike from her home to her job. Kaitlyn was struck by a vehicle. She suffered injuries that should have been fatal but she has fought hard for her life the entire time. 


Kaitlyn suffered a serious skull fracture, brain bleeding, a busted blood vessel in her stomach as well as bruised intestines and a shattered knee and nose. She was in a coma. This brave young girl had to have brain surgery and be fed through a feeding tube.


In the early morning hours- her grandfather reached out to let me know that Kaitlyn has shown incredible improvement!  Rachel Curry (Kaitlyn's mom) shared, "I have good news for everybody! Kaitlyn did show two fingers and a thumbs up! She stuck out her tongue on command!" She continued, "I told her to kiss her pig (stuffed animal) and she put it up to her mouth!" Rachel also shared that her heart skipped a beat when her daughter did this. Rachel and her entire family are so thankful that God answered their prayers. 


Kaitlyn had to be flown to the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis directly after the accident. The medical team performed many successful, and difficult surgeries. The family is thankful for the skilled medical team. 


Lincoln high school was very supportive after the accident. Kaitlyn's peers and her entire Community are excited to hear that she is showing huge signs of improvement. Kaitlyn actually breathed on her own on March 9th for 30 minutes before having to be ventilated again. That was just 8 days after the accident. 


She really is a brave and strong young lady. 


Although Kaitlyn remains at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, we are hoping she continues to show improvement and can finally go home to her family. She has two siblings that are ready for her to be home. 


As far as the accident, no arrests have been made and officials have not spoken at length about the accident which occurred at Edison and Indiana avenue in Vincennes. Police chief John Hillenbrand stated that the Indiana State Police have taken over the case.


Regardless, this young lady is an inspiration. We wish Kaitlyn and her family all the best and more.
