 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. ATBU Bauchi Dismisses Lecturer Over Sexual Harassment


The Governing Council of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) in Bauchi State has dismissed one Dr Usman Aliyu from the service of the institution.


Zailani Bappa, Director, Information and Public Relations of the institution, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Bauchi on Thursday. 


According to him, the approval of the dismissal of the lecturer was made during the 96th regular meeting of the institution held on April 11, 2025, after he was found guilty of having sexually harassed a married female post-graduate student of the institution.


He said that the student is from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Engineering Technology of the institution.


“Yes, it’s true, and that was because the lecturer was confirmed guilty of the offense by the Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee of the institution.


“The dismissal was in accordance with the chapter 3, item f, i, (o) of the Senior Staff Conditions of Service of the University.


“The Council has subsequently approved his dismissal from the service of the University with immediate effect.


“In view of this, he has been directed to hand over all the property of the university in his possession to his Head of Department and identification card to the Chief Security Officer of the University”, Mr Bappa said. (NAN)
