 TROOPS OF OPERATION WHIRL STROKE ARREST HIGH PROFILE CRIMINAL IN BENUE COMMUNITY Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE arrested a high-profile suspected criminal during an intelligence-driven operation in Agasha Village of Guma Local Government Area, Benue State, following a report of an attack on a local resident. The operation was launched on 13 March 2026 after security agencies received credible information regarding an attack on Mr Shaapera Seeta Michael in Agasha Village. Acting swiftly on the report, troops of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Intervention Battalion XI deployed under Operation WHIRL STROKE mobilised immediately to the affected area to track down the suspect responsible for the assault. Upon arrival, the troops cordoned the area to prevent the suspect from escaping while conducting a targeted search operation aimed at identifying and apprehending the alleged attacker.  Ebonyi APC Denies Claims of Governor Nwifuru Relinquishing Power in 2027



The Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has firmly dismissed rumors suggesting that Governor Francis Nwifuru agreed to step down after a single four-year term in 2027.


In a statement released on Sunday, APC State Publicity Secretary Ogbuatu Chidi Simbad described the claims as "false and misleading." He emphasized that no such agreement was ever made, stating, "Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru is not leaving after four years. There was no agreement to the contrary, and any such claim is baseless."


Ogbuatu pointed out that no governor in Ebonyi State’s history has served only one term, reinforcing the party’s stance on continuity. He accused certain individuals of attempting to sow confusion among the public, saying, "A few who once stood on the sidelines are now trying to distract and mislead Ebonyians, but their imagination only reveals their own motives."


The APC reiterated its resilience against intimidation, with Ogbuatu noting that the party’s strength stems from "unity, humility, peace, and good governance." He praised the Nwifuru administration’s commitment to fulfilling its promises, which he said has earned widespread trust and support from the people.


The statement also lauded Governor Nwifuru’s leadership, describing Ebonyi as "on the right path to greatness" under his governance. Ogbuatu highlighted the administration’s focus on sustainable economic and infrastructural development, adding, "Governance is a continuum, and this government is committed to progressive policies for lasting growth."


Additionally, the APC disclosed that its state chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, has been engaging aggrieved members across the state’s 13 local government areas and 171 wards, promoting reconciliation and inclusivity to strengthen party unity.


The party called on Ebonyians to disregard the rumors and remain supportive of the Nwifuru-led administration’s vision for a stronger state.
