 Trump announces Hamas disarmament and Israeli troop withdrawal agreement under Gaza ceasefire plan   President Donald Trump announced Thursday that Hamas has agreed to a plan to disarm and that Israel will withdraw its forces from Gaza as part of a U.S.-backed ceasefire framework. Trump described the agreement as a major step toward creating a new Palestinian government in Gaza that would work with the newly established Board of Peace to oversee the next stages of the plan. The president said the agreement would also provide Israel with increased security by preventing Gaza from being used as a launching point for future attacks. Details of the agreement were limited, and neither Israel nor Hamas immediately released statements responding to Trump’s announcement.  Egypt president Sisi, Macron affirm 2-state solution is 'only guarantee' for peace


Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call Saturday from French President Emmanuel Macron, where both leaders discussed developments in Gaza Strip, according to Egypt Today.

 

The Official Spokesperson for the Presidency stated that the call addressed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them, as part of preparations for the French President's upcoming visit to Egypt.

 

Discussions focused on the most important cooperation topics raised during the visit and prospects for strengthening them in line with the interests of the two friendly countries, including the possibility of holding a tripartite Egyptian-French-Jordanian summit in Cairo during the French President's visit to Egypt.

 

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the Official Spokesperson, added that the call addressed developments in the Gaza Strip, where Egyptian efforts to achieve a ceasefire were reviewed.

 

The two presidents emphasized the importance of restoring calm through an immediate ceasefire and the provision of humanitarian aid. They also emphasized the importance of the two-state solution as the only guarantee for achieving lasting peace in the region.
