 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  Ekiti Court Sentences Two to Death for Kidnapping, Armed Robbery


An Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti has sentenced two men, Onileowo Rotimi and Adetola Ayodele, both 42, to death by hanging for armed robbery and kidnapping. The duo was also handed life imprisonment for conspiracy.


The court found them guilty of robbing Mrs. Ajibola Oyelola on October 7, 2016, at Abuta, Omuo Ekiti, and kidnapping her the same day. The offences violated sections of the Ekiti State Criminal Code and Kidnapping and Terrorism (Prohibition) Laws.


Testifying, the victim said she was abducted from her home by five armed men, blindfolded, and held captive in the forest for eight days. Her husband eventually paid a ransom of ₦600,000 for her release.


Prosecutor Akinola Abon presented four witnesses and the defendants’ statements. The convicts, who admitted to meeting in prison before committing the crimes, presented no defense.


Justice Bamidele Omotoso ruled that the prosecution had proved its case, sentencing them to life for kidnapping and death by hanging for armed robbery.
