 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  Ekiti Court Sentences Two to Death for Kidnapping, Armed Robbery


An Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti has sentenced two men, Onileowo Rotimi and Adetola Ayodele, both 42, to death by hanging for armed robbery and kidnapping. The duo was also handed life imprisonment for conspiracy.


The court found them guilty of robbing Mrs. Ajibola Oyelola on October 7, 2016, at Abuta, Omuo Ekiti, and kidnapping her the same day. The offences violated sections of the Ekiti State Criminal Code and Kidnapping and Terrorism (Prohibition) Laws.


Testifying, the victim said she was abducted from her home by five armed men, blindfolded, and held captive in the forest for eight days. Her husband eventually paid a ransom of ₦600,000 for her release.


Prosecutor Akinola Abon presented four witnesses and the defendants’ statements. The convicts, who admitted to meeting in prison before committing the crimes, presented no defense.


Justice Bamidele Omotoso ruled that the prosecution had proved its case, sentencing them to life for kidnapping and death by hanging for armed robbery.
