LASG REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO YOUTH EMPOWERMENT THROUGH ENTERTAINMENT, SPORTS

The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe, has underscored the Lagos State Government’s commitment to using entertainment and sports as powerful tools to engage and empower young people.

He made this known during the Ms. DSF Street Festival held on Friday at 23 Road, FESTAC Town - a lively and colourful gathering that attracted hundreds of youths, families, and entertainment lovers for a day of community celebration, creativity, and fun.

Highlighting the cultural significance of the area, Mr. Aregbe declared, “FESTAC is more than just a neighbourhood; it’s a cultural and creative powerhouse. It holds a unique place in Lagos’ entertainment landscape, and we are deliberate about spreading our initiatives to communities like this, not just the island or central districts.”

Organized by popular entertainer and media personality Ms. DSF, the festival offered an electrifying mix of basketball, fashion, dance, and live music, all curated to spotlight local talent and energize the community. The day began with a thrilling basketball tournament, followed by show-stopping performances from fast-rising artists and a fiercely contested dance competition.

Winners were rewarded with N500,000 each - both the champion basketball team and the standout dance crew - in a show of appreciation for their skills, passion, and effort.

Mr. Aregbe applauded Ms. DSF for her vision and execution, describing her as a “true pride of Lagos, Nigeria, and Africa.”

“Today is not about long speeches,” he said. “It’s about acknowledging the power of creativity, the energy of our youth, and the importance of platforms like this to inspire, empower and build community pride.”
