 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe.  Man Electrocuted While Repairing Power Line in Oyo


An unidentified man was electrocuted on Wednesday in the Odi Babaode area of Eruwa, Ibarapa East LGA of Oyo State, while attempting to fix a fault on a 33KV high-tension line.

The General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Canon Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday, explaining that the electrician was working on a live power line without shutting down the feeder.


Akinyinka said the agency responded to a distress call from one Adelanre Adeyinka at 3:29 p.m. on April 23. A rescue team led by Peluola Babatunde arrived at the scene but found the victim already deceased.


The body was recovered and handed over to officers from Eruwa Police Station.


Akinyinka emphasized the importance of safety, warning that only qualified personnel should handle active electrical installations.
