 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe.  More Politicians to Join APC Ahead of 2027, Says Gov. Uzodinma


Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma has predicted a wave of defections from opposition parties to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the 2027 elections approach, citing the party’s growing influence.


Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Saturday after meeting with political stakeholders from Delta State, Uzodinma, who chairs the Progressives Governors Forum, highlighted recent high-profile defections, including that of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other key figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.


“The tide is moving, and people are joining with no end in sight,” Uzodinma said. “Delta is now almost a one-party state, with our party growing from strength to strength.”


He emphasized that the APC would leverage its internal mechanisms to integrate new and existing members, fostering unity to support the Delta State government and advance the party’s goals. “We are meeting to manage this huge success, ensuring we receive our new leaders and grow as a family for the benefit of our people,” he added.


Uzodinma described the defections as a testament to the APC’s widespread admiration across Nigeria, expressing confidence in the party’s continued expansion ahead of the 2027 polls.
