 TROOPS OF OPERATION UDOKA DISMANTLE CRIMINAL SYNDICATE, RECOVER STOLEN WEAPONS Troops of 34 Artillery Brigade, operating under Operation UDOKA through the ongoing Operation EASTERN SANITY II, have recorded a significant operational success with the arrest of key members of a notorious criminal syndicate responsible for the ambush of troops on 4 May 2026. Unfortunately, the ambush claimed the life of one soldier and left another wounded. Following the attack, troops launched a series of intelligence-led raids aimed at apprehending the perpetrators and recovering weapons stolen during the incident. Nigerian Researcher Hilary Akpu Pioneers AI-Driven Worm Behaviour Study


Nigerian scientist Hilary Akpu has made a groundbreaking contribution to global research by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the study of worm mating behaviour.


His work revolutionizes animal behaviour tracking, using YOLOv8 and DeepSORT to enhance accuracy by 77%, eliminating labor-intensive manual observations. The AI-powered system also precisely detects physical interactions between worms, offering new insights into genetics and neurobiology.


A graduate of Mountain Top University with an MSc from the University of Reading, Akpu has also developed AI-driven medical diagnostics and a vaccination app that boosted infant immunization rates.


His cutting-edge research positions Nigeria at the forefront of AI-driven biological studies, with far-reaching implications for genetics, neurobiology, and environmental science.
