Terrifying new dashcam footage shows moment doomed NBC helicopter falls out of the sky The terrifying moment an NBC helicopter fell out of the sky and plunged into the ground near where an SUV had slammed into a Metro bus was caught on dashcam. The video, obtained by KTLA, shows the helicopter descending, caught from afar on the vehicle camera of Yera Valencia. She said: “I downloaded the video of my dashcam. It’s a little dot on the video. It’s a crisp video and it just goes down.” She added: “God, it’s so close, it could have happened to anyone. My parents walk down the street.” The two back-to-back Tuesday night crashes resulted in five deaths — two involving the bus and SUV, and three as a result of the chopper going down, killing reporter Eliana Moreno, pilot George Marciniw and pedestrian Edy Gutierrez Mejia.

 Reps Direct Rivers Sole Administrator to Report to National Assembly


The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has instructed Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, to report directly to the National Assembly in managing the state’s affairs, in line with the 1999 Constitution (as amended). The directive was issued on Tuesday during the inauguration of a 21-member House Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State in Abuja.


The committee’s formation follows President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a six-month state of emergency in Rivers State on March 18, 2025, prompted by a political crisis between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the State House of Assembly. Tinubu suspended both the governor and the assembly, appointing Ibas as Sole Administrator—a decision ratified by both chambers of the National Assembly.


Speaker Abbas emphasized that Ibas’s role is temporary, focused on maintaining law and order until democratic governance is restored. “The administrator must operate with transparency and accountability, reporting to the National Assembly on all matters concerning peace, order, and good governance,” Abbas stated, citing Section 11(4) of the Constitution, which empowers the National Assembly to legislate for a state unable to perform its functions.


The Speaker urged the committee to act impartially, monitor the caretaker administration’s adherence to federal directives, scrutinize public expenditures, and facilitate the restoration of democracy in Rivers State. He referenced past emergencies in Plateau (2004), Ekiti (2006), and Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe (2013), where the National Assembly ensured governance continuity during crises.


“The task before this committee is a mission of national significance,” Abbas said, warning against bias and stressing the need for transparent reporting to enable further legislative action if required. He described the intervention as a constitutional necessity, not a political vendetta, aimed at safeguarding peace and the rule of law.


Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, House Leader and Committee Chairman, pledged the panel’s commitment to delivering on its mandate. “This is one of the strongest ad-hoc committees since 2019. We will not disappoint the National Assembly or Nigeria,” he assured.


The committee is tasked with overseeing the caretaker administration’s conduct, engaging federal agencies and reconciliation initiatives, and fostering trust to restore lasting peace and democratic governance in Rivers State.
