Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing.  29-year-old man arrested for illegal firearm and stolen property in Lusaka village


A 29-year-old male suspect was arrested on Monday, 26 May 2025, for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, as well as suspected stolen property, in Lusaka Village near Tzaneen.


The arrest was carried out around midday by members of the Mopani Tracking Team and Mopani Highway Patrol. Officers were conducting routine tracking duties in the Ritavi policing area when they received intelligence about a man allegedly in possession of a firearm.


A search was conducted at the suspect’s residence, where police discovered a firearm with live ammunition hidden in his room. A flash machine, suspected to be stolen, was also found stored in a fridge.


The suspect failed to produce a firearm licence and was immediately arrested. A case has been opened at Ritavi Police Station.


He is expected to appear in the Nkowankowa Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 28 May 2025.
