Abia State Government Recovers Aba Mega Mall, Compensates Investors

The Abia State Government has successfully reclaimed the Aba Mega Mall complex in Osisioma Local Government Area, resolving a long-standing dispute and compensating investors and financial institutions with interests in the facility. The announcement comes two weeks after the state revoked the land titles of Enyimba Automated Shoe Company (ENASCO) due to alleged irregularities.

Governor Alex Otti, speaking at a crusade organized by the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries held within the mall, revealed that the state had regained full ownership of the long-abandoned complex. He noted that the facility had been embroiled in disputes and left to deteriorate until his administration’s intervention.

“About three weeks ago, we resolved the dispute, paid off everybody that was being owed, and the place has reverted to the state government,” Otti stated, emphasizing that the recovery was achieved without coercion. “We didn’t want to use force. We called all of them. How much are you being owed? We paid all, even paid their bankers.”

The governor expressed regret that despite significant investments by previous investors under past administrations, the expansive mall had been abandoned and left to rot. Otti assured residents that the state government is committed to revitalizing the facility to serve the interests of Abia’s citizens, promising that it will be put to productive use for the benefit of the state.
