 IGP DISU PAYS OPERATIONAL VISIT TO  AKWA IBOM, PRESIDES OVER PASSING-OUT CEREMONY OF 1,068 RETRAINED CONSTABLES The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, 30th April 2026, undertook an official visit to Akwa Ibom State, where he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, ahead of the passing-out ceremony of retrained Police Constables in Uyo.  Foreign National Caught with Illegal Explosives at Beitbridge Border


A 28-year-old Zimbabwean national was arrested at the Beitbridge Port of Entry on Friday, 16 May 2025, for possession of illegal explosives.


The suspect was caught during a routine search at around 06:30 when a police dog detected suspicious items hidden in red 50kg polyester bags inside a trailer. The trailer was being towed by a white Toyota Quantum.


Members of the Musina Explosives Unit were called to the scene and found the following items:


6 reels of detonating fuses


2,505 Superpower


90 blasting cartridges


100 Carmex connector capped fuses


The suspect was charged for violating the Explosives Act and is expected to appear before the Musina Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 19 May 2025. The explosives were secured and samples have been sent for forensic testing.


Preliminary investigations suggest the explosives were meant to be transported to Cape Town.
