 ANAMBRA POLICE ACTION ON THE CULT CLASH THAT RESULTED IN THE FATAL INJURY OF FOUR PERSONS AT AFOR NAWFIA MARKET The Anambra State Police Command wishes to provide a comprehensive update on the cult-related attack that occurred on the evening of 7th December 2025 at Afor Nawfia Market, along the Onitsha–Awka Old Road. It will be recalled that operatives of the Command attached to the Special Anti-Cult Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, had, four days earlier, acting on credible intelligence about a planned rival cult confrontation, arrested two dangerous suspects and recovered a firearm from them. The arrested suspects have been assisting the Police with valuable information aimed at preventing further cult-related violence within Awka and its environs. FOREIGN NATIONAL CAUGHT WITH ILLEGAL EXPLOSIVES AT BEITBRIDGE BORDER. (PHOTO).

 Foreign National Caught with Illegal Explosives at Beitbridge Border


A 28-year-old Zimbabwean national was arrested at the Beitbridge Port of Entry on Friday, 16 May 2025, for possession of illegal explosives.


The suspect was caught during a routine search at around 06:30 when a police dog detected suspicious items hidden in red 50kg polyester bags inside a trailer. The trailer was being towed by a white Toyota Quantum.


Members of the Musina Explosives Unit were called to the scene and found the following items:


6 reels of detonating fuses


2,505 Superpower


90 blasting cartridges


100 Carmex connector capped fuses


The suspect was charged for violating the Explosives Act and is expected to appear before the Musina Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 19 May 2025. The explosives were secured and samples have been sent for forensic testing.


Preliminary investigations suggest the explosives were meant to be transported to Cape Town.
