The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. The reality star, known for sharing hot takes on relationships, recently claimed that it is now more expensive to be a boyfriend than a husband.

On his Instastory, the outspoken reality star wrote, “It’s more expensive now to be a boyfriend than a husband.”

A screenshot of his original post quickly went viral on social media, sparking a fierce debate.

While many agreed with his claim, others expressed disbelief, describing it as unrealistic to a large extent and a gross generalisation.
