Kebbi Govt Donates 10 Hilux Vehicles to Boost Security on Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway  The Kebbi State Government has handed over 10 brand-new Hilux vehicles to the Federal Ministry of Works to strengthen security for personnel working on the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project. The vehicles were formally received by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, who praised Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu), for the donation. Goronyo described the gesture as a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to protecting workers and contractors on the strategic highway corridor. He explained that the vehicles will be deployed exclusively to security operatives providing cover for construction teams along the section of the super highway passing through Kebbi State. The Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway is a multi-state infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity and economic activities across northern and southern Nigeria. More...

Kaduna Gov Didn’t Approve Controversial LG Appointees’ List – Aides

A controversial list of appointees across the 23 local government areas of Kaduna State, purportedly said to have emanated from the Office of the Governor of Kaduna State, has sparked outrage within the Government House and among prominent politicians in the state.

Arewa PUNCH gathered from inside sources that the list was circulated without the knowledge or approval of Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State nor the respective council chairmen.

Sources within the Kaduna State Government told Arewa PUNCH that the list, which first surfaced on social media platforms in recent days, did not originate from any official or authorised government channel.

The document, which names alleged political appointees alongside supposed sponsors, some of them prominent politicians, has raised concerns about internal sabotage and the spread of misinformation within the state’s political system.

“The list is not only fake, but was deliberately leaked to cause confusion, erode public trust, and discredit both the governor and the council chairmen,” a senior government official, who pleaded anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the issue, told our correspondent.

Further investigations by Arewa PUNCH revealed that the document was allegedly compiled almost two months ago by unknown individuals suspected to be working against the current administration. Some of those named in the list allegedly paid money while believing the appointments were legitimate.

“This fraudulent act is not just a mischief. It has the potential to deceive innocent citizens into thinking these appointments have been formally endorsed,” another source within the State Executive Council said.

“The government is investigating the origin of the leak, and those responsible will face the full wrath of the law.”

Political observers say the development may trigger a reassessment of the state’s appointment and vetting processes to forestall future manipulations by political middlemen.

Governor Uba Sani, who assumed office in 2023, has consistently emphasised transparency, merit, and due process in governance. Analysts say the current controversy poses a serious test to the administration’s credibility and internal cohesion.

As of press time, the government had yet to issue an official statement, though sources said a formal response would be communicated in due course to address the situation.

When contacted, the Chief Press Secretary to the Kaduna State Governor, Ibrahim Musa, did not respond to calls from our correspondent at the time of filing this report.
