 ‎‎NAF RECEIVES FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS AS FG ACCELERATES AIRPOWER MODERNISATION ‎ The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken delivery of five new helicopters as the Federal Government accelerates efforts to modernize Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen the Armed Forces’ capacity to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges.  ‎ ‎A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame indicates that the platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters  and two H-125 helicopters. ‎ The three AW-109s, which form part of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government, were received in Lagos on 15 September 2026, with the remaining seven expected to be delivered before the end of 2026. ‎ ‎The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, described the acquisition as another significant milestone in the Federal Government’s sustained investment in the modernization and re-equipment of the NAF noting that the new pl...

Lagos arrests man caught in viral video dumping waste on roadside


Operatives of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) and the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) have arrested a man, Ogunbadejo Olawale, for illegally dumping refuse by the roadside in the Alapere area..


Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the arrest in a statement on his official X handle on Wednesday.


According to Wahab, Olawale was caught in the act following coordinated surveillance efforts and tips from concerned residents.


Wahab further described the incident as a blatant violation of the state’s environmental laws.


The statement reads: "The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to environmental enforcement with the arrest of Mr. Ogunbadejo Olawale, a resident of No 25, Ajiboye Street, Alapere, Ketu, for illegal waste dumping.


"The arrest was effected by a joint enforcement operation carried out by the operatives of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) and the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI), following credible surveillance and tip-offs from members of the community.


"The offender was caught red-handed disposing refuse indiscriminately in public, thereby undermining the government’s efforts toward achieving a cleaner and more hygienic Lagos. His arrest is a clear demonstration of the state’s resolve to enforce environmental laws and restore sanity to public spaces. The suspect will immediately be prosecuted in accordance with the relevant law of the State.


"Dear Lagosians, your support and vigilance are the backbone of our success so far. Together, we are building a city that will not only be resilient and sustainable but one that our children will be proud to inherit.  


"The Lagos State Government assures the public that it will continue to protect the environment through proactive enforcement, community engagement, and sustained advocacy, all aimed at achieving the vision of a #CleanerLagos."
