  DEVELOPING STORY: Man Found Unconscious After Allegedly Throwing Children From Storey Building in Aba A man was reportedly found unconscious but still breathing after allegedly falling from a storey building at New Phase of Umuobe by Barracks, Opobo Road, Obignwa, Abia State. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, has caused panic among residents of the area. Eyewitnesses told Magic FM Aba that the man allegedly threw two of his children from the building before attempting to throw down his wife. However, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. The two children were reportedly rushed to a hospital for medical attention. As of the time of filing this report, Magic FM Aba could not independently confirm their condition or whether they survived the fall. The man, who sustained an injury to the head, was still lying in front of his house and had yet to receive assistance as of the time of this report.  LAGOS COMMISSIONER URGES CIVIL SERVANTS TO EMBRACE "CIVIC INNOVATION" FOR FUTURE-READY PUBLIC SERVICE


The  Lagos State Government has once again reiterated its commitment to a dynamic and future-forward public service, urging its civil servants to evolve into "civic innovators."


This call to action was made by the Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Mr. Afolabi Ayantayo, at the inauguration of a strategic training programme, themed: “Leveraging Talent Development for the Next Public Service,” held recently in Alausa, Ikeja.


Describing the initiative as a critical intervention, Commissioner Ayantayo underscored the urgent need for public sector employees to transition from traditional administrative roles to proactive problem-solvers and forward-thinking civic innovators.


“In an era defined by rapid change, maintaining the status quo is no longer an option for our public institutions. The next public service must be characterised by innovation, adaptability, and a strong commitment to core values,” he asserted.


According to Mr. Ayantayo, the public workforce forms the bedrock of effective governance. Consequently, he emphasised that talent acquisition must be complemented by continuous nurturing, upskilling, and strategic alignment with the state's overarching development objectives.


“Simply recruiting talent is insufficient; we must actively cultivate it, enhance skills, and align it with the strategic imperatives of a public service deeply focused on the well-being of our citizens,” he stated. 


He further elaborated that the training programme represents a deliberate and significant investment in capacity building, robust performance management, and fostering a culture of continuous learning within the public sector.


While commending the expertise of the facilitators and resource persons, the Commissioner passionately urged participants to seize the opportunity to redefine their roles within the evolving landscape of governance.


“You are not merely Civil Servants; you are the potential Civic Innovators, the very engine room driving the government forward,” he charged. “The future efficacy of our government hinges on a cadre of talented, well-trained, and ultimately transformed Civil Servants, which is the trajectory you will embark on through this programme.”


The intensive training programme is a key component of the Ministry's broader strategy to reposition the Lagos State Public Service in alignment with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's THEMES Plus Agenda. Over 100 participants spanning various cadres and representing diverse Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) across the state are actively participating in this transformative initiative.
