LASHMA COMMISSIONS NEW DIVISIONAL OFFICE IN AJAH, CALLS ON RESIDENTS TO ENROL ON ILERA EKO
The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), in its efforts to increase visibility and ensure ease of access for residents in the Lagos Division to register and enrol on the State Social Health Insurance, has commissioned the ILERA EKO Divisional Office at the BRT Bus Terminal, Ajah.
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, represented by the Director, Administration and Human Resource, Mrs. Olufunke Longe, in her address at the commissioning, said that the relocation of Lagos Divisional office from the Maternal and Child Centre, Eti-Osa, to Ajah, was a deliberate move by the Agency to ensure that no resident in Lagos Island, Eti-Osa, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Badore and surrounding towns is left behind.
While noting that the terminal has a heavy traffic of people who daily access transport services. Dr. Zamba implored residents and passengers in the Division to register and enrol on the Health Insurance Plan, especially now that it is mandatory to enjoy a bouquet of benefits such as treatment of malaria, typhoid, hypertension, diabetes, asthma, access to specialist care, maternal and childcare, telemedicine service and drugs.
The Permanent Secretary said, "ILERA EKO will give peace of mind, reduce out-of-pocket payment for medical expenses, and prevent financial catastrophe whenever there is any medical challenge. She noted that the Agency, since its full take off in 2021, has continued to expand its offices to be closer to the people, especially at the grassroots.
Dr. Zamba said, "Today, LASHMA has five Divisional offices, 14 Sub-Divisional offices, and 17 kiosks spread across the State. We also have our presence in some of the LGAs and LCDAs in the State, and we will not relent until all Lagos residents have access to register and enrol seamlessly".
The Permanent Secretary reiterated that residents who are IT savvy can self-register and pay through the LASHMA website www.lashma.com or use the USSD Code by dialling * 6700*006# on their phone. Other residents, she suggested, could also register at either LASHMA Headquarters in Alausa or in any of the Divisional offices, Sub-Divisional or kiosk.
Dr. Zamba advised that they could also pay into the designated payment platforms, such as the e-bills from the bank, Quick Teller, and LASHMA POS. She warned residents not to pay cash into any personal accounts of LASHMA agents, as the agency operates a zero-cash policy.
The Permanent Secretary appreciated the Managing Director, Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, for the support given to the Agency and for graciously providing space for the Divisional Office.
Dr. Zamba said that this is a testament to the inter-sectoral collaboration always preached by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. She emphasised that LASHMA would continue to create innovative strategies that will enhance quality healthcare access across the state in a bid to ensure that no one, irrespective of his or her socio-economic status, is left behind.
Dr. Zamba also explained that for residents who can not afford to pay the premium at once, the Agency has launched ILERA N'TIWA Cooperative, which supports the pay-small-small initiative of the Agency.
The Managing Director, LAMATA, Engr. Mrs Abimbola Akinajo, represented by the Head of Business Development, LAMATA, Mr. Kayode Olatawura, praised LASHMA for erecting a beautiful edifice at the terminal.
He assured the agency that LAMATA will continue to support LASHMA to ensure that passengers accessing transport services know more about ILERA EKO.
The Medical Officer of Health, Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Dr. Oyebanji Oyenike, stated that the new LASHMA office will enhance awareness about health insurance and promote the enrollment drive on ILERA EKO. She urged all youth groups, chairmen of various associations, market men and women, as well as employers of Labour, to spread the gospel of ILERA EKO.
In the same vein, the Coordinator of the Police Wives Association (POWA) for Lagos and Ogun State, Mrs. Adekemi Fayoade, applauded the Agency for bringing health insurance closer to the doorsteps of the people. She assured that she would continue to enrol more people in the scheme as she has always done, and encouraged more residents to join the moving train.
