 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. SRINAGAR AIRPORT HAS BEEN PLACED ON HIGH ALERT FOLLOWING HEIGHTENED SECURITY MEASURES IN THE WAKE OF OPERATION SINDOOR, WHICH TARGETED TERROR CAMPS IN PAKISTAN. (PHOTO).

 Srinagar Airport has been placed on high alert following heightened security measures in the wake of Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror camps in Pakistan. 

As part of the nationwide security precaution, all airports in Jammu and Kashmir have been closed until 5:29 am on Saturday, May 10, with Srinagar being one of the key locations affected.


The closure has led to significant disruption, with Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet flights to the region completely cancelled. Security forces, including the BSF, have been deployed along the international border to prevent potential retaliatory actions. Passengers have been advised to check their flight statuses due to the widespread cancellations.


In addition, reports of a Pakistani army threat to Srinagar Airport have been dismissed as baseless by the central government. Despite the closure, airlines are working on contingency plans to ensure safety and minimize disruption.
