 Meta to end end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages Meta is ending end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages, a feature the company says will no longer be available after May 8, 2026. Unlike WhatsApp, Instagram never offered encryption to all users or as a default; only select users in certain regions could opt in on a per-chat basis. A Meta spokesperson explained that the decision comes due to low adoption. “Very few people were opting in to end-to-end encrypted messaging in DMs, so we’re removing this option from Instagram in the coming months,” the spokesperson said. “Anyone who wants to keep messaging with end-to-end encryption can easily do that on WhatsApp.” Meta’s messaging strategy has shifted multiple times over the years. WhatsApp chats have been encrypted since 2016, and the company began rolling out default encryption for Messenger in 2023. VDM HAS BEEN RELEASED,AFTER 6DAYS IN DETENTION. (PHOTO).

 VDM Has been released.


After 6days in detention following protest from his fans, top celebrities, politicians and his lawyer verydarkman has been released. 


This proves his lawyer Deji is not just a lawyer on social media alone but one who knows his onions. I believe if Deji was in Nigeria the day the arrest took place, he wouldn't have remained in detention this long. 


People are saying he should japa and do his activism from abroad because that's the best for him. But one thing, if he travels, won't he ever come back to Nigeria? And how would people take him serious when he is fighting from afar? The main reason for his arrest wasn't about his activism but money laundering. Because what does EFCC have to do with cyberspace? 


In all of this chaos, one thing is worthy of note and it is that during his arrest, even his enemies(people he has called out) where in support of him, whether it was for content or not, it only shows his bravery in calling out the wrongs of Nigeria and Nigerians is a step forward to a better country. Asides his personal call out like that of Nedu, he may be doing a good job.
