 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  WAEC speaks on late night exams, apologizes


The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has explained the delay that led to sitting for one of the papers in its examinations on Wednesday.

In a statement released on Thursday, WAEC stated that the delay occurred in an effort to avoid examination malpractice.

While acknowledging the oversight, WAEC apologized for the delay which occured in multiple centres nationwide.

Moyosola Adesina, the Acting head of Public affairs, reaffirmed that the body was committed to preserving the integrity of the examination.

“While maintaining the integrity and security of our examination, we faced considerable challenges primarily due to our major aim of preventing leakage of any paper. While we successfully achieved our objective, it inadvertently impacted the timeliness and seamless conduct of the examination,” Adesina said.Newspaper: Online classifieds

WAEC also emphasized its efforts to improve the examination process for candidates in upcoming papers.

“Despite our best efforts, we encountered logistical hurdles, security concerns and sociocultural factors that negatively influenced our operations. In order to forestall future occurrences of this nature, the council is currently collaborating with security agencies,” the statement added.

The body also apologized to students, parents and guardians and schools for the major inconvenience.

“We recognise the importance of timely conduct of examinations and the impact of this decision on the candidates, their schools and parents, and we sincerely apologise for any inconveniences caused,” Adesina added.
