CJN Bans Lawyers, Court Officials to Stop Using ‘Barrister’ as Official Title The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has directed lawyers, court officials and other legal personnel to discontinue the use of “Barrister” as a prefix to their names in all official engagements at the Supreme Court. The directive was contained in a memorandum dated July 13, 2026, and signed by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Kabir Akanbi. The circular, which was addressed to litigation staff, legal practitioners, court registrars and lawyers, stated that the directive took immediate effect and was aimed at upholding professional standards within the apex court.  Woman Bites Off Lover’s Manhood in Rivers, Arrested by Police


A 43-year-old woman, identified as Gift, has been arrested by the Rivers State Police for allegedly biting off her lover’s manhood during a sex-related dispute in Mile 3, Diobu, Port Harcourt.


The altercation reportedly began when her partner, Sunday, requested sex. Gift refused, accusing him of using sex-enhancing drugs. A scuffle ensued, during which she allegedly bit off the tip of his penis.


Police intervened and arrested the suspect, while the victim was rushed to the hospital. Command spokesperson SP Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident and said an investigation is ongoing.
