2025 DEMOCRACY DAY: CP GIWA HOLDS STRATEGIC CONFERENCE, ORDERS MASSIVE DEPLOYMENT, EXTENDS GOODWILL TO NDI ENUGU

To ensure a hitch-free June 12 Democracy Day celebration in Enugu State, the Commissioner of Police of the State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, convened a strategic conference with senior officers of the Command. He consequently directed Area Commanders, PMF Squadrons' and Tactical Squads' Commanders, as well as Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), to ensure the effective deployment of personnel and the use of available operational and intelligence resources at their disposal to properly police their areas of responsibility.

During the conference, CP Giwa also conveyed outcomes from the recent national conference of the Inspector-General of Police, emphasising the need for professionalism by all personnel before, during, and after the Democracy Day celebration. He warned that supervising officers would be held accountable for any lapses recorded under their watch.

The Commissioner further directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations to coordinate the deployment of resources to areas prone to herders/farmers-related crimes. He ordered area commanders of such areas to take charge, mobilise their DPOs, and work with community leaders and local security to ensure sustained public safety.

Extending his goodwill to the government and people of Enugu State, CP Giwa wished them a peaceful and memorable Democracy Day celebration. He reaffirmed that democracy remains the most reliable path to achieving the security, collective good and will of the people, despite existing challenges.

The Commissioner urges citizens to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and supportive of the police and to promptly report suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station, or call 08032003702 or 08086671202.
