Abia Warriors have begun their preparations for the 2025/26 season, marking their debut in the CAF Confederation Cup. The Umuahia-based club, which secured third place in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) last season, is set to compete on the continental stage for the first time in its history.
Under the guidance of head coach Imama Amapakabo, the team has started training ahead of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round. The initial phase of preparations will focus on the existing squad, with new signings expected to join later.
Abia Warriors will be joined in the competition by the winner of the President Federation Cup final between Kwara United and Abakaliki FC. Nigeria has yet to claim victory in the CAF Confederation Cup, adding anticipation to the team’s campaign.
The club’s early start underscores their determination to make a strong impression in both the NPFL and continental competition.
