 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean.  Anambra Court orders Life Imprisonment to Security Personnel Who Rap€d 17yr-old Girl Hawking “Okpa” At Upper Iweka.


One Mr Michael Okoi, aged 23, who on 11th May 2024 at a Filling Station along Onitsha – Asaba Expressway, Upper Iweka, allegedly had unlawful s€xual int€rcourse with a 17yr-old girl hawking “Okpa” at the area, offence contrary  to Section 3(2) of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition and Protection) Laws of Anambra State, 2017, has been Sentenced to Life Imprisonment For taking advantage of the vulnerability of the “young naïve girl who was on a survival quest in this harsh economy to ravage her womanhood.


The Children, Sexual and Gender-based Violence Court sitting at Awka and presided over by Justice Peace Otti, sentenced the perpetrator, Michael, to life imprisonment on count 1, and fined him two hundred thousand naira each on counts 2 and 3


Reacting to this, the Anambra State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Professor Sylvia Ifemeje, has described this judgment as landmark the ‘life sentence judgement’ given in a case brought against a security personnel,


The Justice Commissioner noted that the judgement is one that sends a signal that the Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration has zero tolerance for all forms of gender-based violence in the state.
