 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe. Emplaces operational plans to arrest other gang members


Police Operatives attached to the Awgbu Divisional Headquarters leveraging on community support on 12th June 2025 by 10.20am arrested one Chimaobi Mbonu ‘m’ aged 19 years old allegedly a member of a kidnapping gang involved in the kidnap and murder of late Mr George Onwurah in May 2024 at Ndiukwuenu Village, Orumba North Local Government Area. 


Preliminary information revealed that the said Chimaobi and some other gang members still at large kidnapped and tortured their victims to death after collecting ransom. The criminal gang is also responsible for the vandalization of the Community Health Care Centre, where they stole a lot of electrical materials and other valuables.


Given the above, the Operatives have emplaced operational plans to arrest other gang members that are currently at large.
