 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean.  Benue State Declares Public Holiday for President Tinubu’s Condolence Visit


The Benue State Government has announced Wednesday, June 18, 2025, as a public holiday to facilitate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s one-day condolence visit to the state. The visit comes in response to recent violent attacks that have claimed numerous lives in Benue.


According to a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Serumun Deborah Aber, President Tinubu, who cut short his schedule to make the trip, will commiserate with the government and people of Benue over the tragic incidents. The holiday aims to allow residents to warmly receive the President and his delegation during this significant visit.


The directive exempts essential service workers, including medical personnel, security agencies, and banking institutions. The government urged citizens to turn out in large numbers to welcome the President, emphasizing the symbolic importance of the visit.
