 Recording Academy adds five new Grammy categories, updates rules for 2026 awards NEW YORK - The Recording Academy is introducing five new categories and making several rule changes for the 2026 Grammy Awards in an effort to reflect the evolving global music landscape. Among the new additions is a best Asian pop music performance category, which will honor performances across genres such as K-pop, J-pop, C-pop and other Asian pop styles, with the award going to performers. A new best traditional pop vocal performance category will recognize artists whose work does not fit within modern pop styles. A best Latin song category will spotlight songwriters for Spanish-language Latin recordings. Changes are also coming to existing categories in R&B and folk music.  FIFA World Club: Tems to perform at opening ceremony


Nigerian singer Tems will perform at the first-ever halftime show of a FIFA Club World Cup final. The event will take place on July 13, 2025, at MetLife Stadium in New York.Nigeria: Nigerian fashion

Tems will share the stage with Colombian star J Balvin and American pop singer Doja Cat. The show will be broadcast live and free on DAZN.com so fans around the world can watch.

Tems said she’s excited to be part of this global moment. “We’ll bring the world together to celebrate football and the power of music,” she said. “It’s also a chance to help children through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.”

This special performance is part of a project by FIFA and Global Citizen to raise $100 million. The goal is to give more children access to quality education and football.

Tems called the event a celebration of both football and unity through music.
